Product Review: Nanny Rose's Queen Bee Honey Wax

It is quite a challenge for us, girls, to keep our underarms hair free. There are several options to remove the hair on those unwanted areas but they can be tedious, painful and/or expensive. I personally used to pluck the hair on my underarms but it was time-consuming and such method could lead to chicken skin. Another common and easy way to do it is to shave the hair, but shaving was never an option for me because I don't like how the hair regrows afterwards.

Isn't it stressful when you have to wear sleeveless or dress that requires you to flaunt your underarms the next day yet you haven't plucked and shaved at all? I guess most of us want to be underarm hair free forever. Laser treatments came along and became popular to remove the hair permanently, however they are quite expensive. So I continued searching for a solution to my hair problem. Haha!

     Then, I discovered DIY Waxing.

I've been a wax user for almost three years and I can say that waxing is a better method than plucking and shaving. It is better than plucking because it is faster and less painful. And compare to shaving, it is better since it removes the roots of the hair, hence, hair regrowth is slower. Ever since I tried waxing, I never went back to plucking again.

The first waxing product I have tried was Strip It, a popular sugar wax which can be used hot or cold. Based on my experience, it pulls the hair effectively removing 99-100% of the hair. However, the brand is not accessible in our place. I had to buy it online which can be a hassle especially if there is no Paypal option. When I used up my Strip It wax, I knew I had to look for another brand. I went to Watsons and I found Nanny Rose's Queen Bee Honey Wax

I bought the 50g as I didn't want to be impulsive again to buy the biggest one but end up disliking the product. I love how cute the box is. :)

I also love the fact that they provided information on the packaging. So don't throw it away! :)

WHAT I LIKE:
  • It's all natural! It's all honey, baby!
  • The container is microwavable.
  • Packaging contains relevant information like the expiration date.
  • You can use the wax hot or cold. (But I recommend using it while warm for smooth application)
  • Box contains three washable cloths and a wooden applicator. (Avoid double dipping. I threw away the free spatula after waxing and I just used the other spatulas I bought from the national bookstore. Mura lang yun! hehe.)
  • It removes 70%-80% of the hair on your first pull. (The result will depend on the thickness of the hair. I have relatively thick hair so it can be difficult to remove the hair flawlessly in one go.)
  • Affordable (Php 99 for 50g)
  • Accessible
  • Easy to store
  • Hair regrows on my 2nd week which is good considering my hair really grows fast.
WHAT I DON'T LIKE:
  • The wax seeps through the cloth so it's difficult to pull out all the hair. Most of the time I had to wax 2-3 times on one area. (Tip: Apply powder on top of the cloth)

WILL I REPURCHASE?

I like this product but I'd probably look for another brand. Although this product pulls a decent amount of hair, I still want to look for other products that can give better performance. But if you're look for a good hair remover, you might want to give this a try. :)

Thank you for visiting my blog! Stay happy and beautiful!

  1. Hi Maggy! Hey! Thank you sa pag greet mo saken. Super sweet mo dear! Thanks ha? Anyway, you've been waxing na pala for 3 years. Ako? Haven't tried it even once. Pero I really wanted to try it kaya lang parang feeling ko di eeffect saken. Hehe. I have super thick hair kasi on my u.a. And it's hassle. Plucking lang talaga ako nasasatisfied kaso tatay told me to stop it thou, lately kasi parang nagkaron ako ng boils (kadiri no?) on my u.a siguro kasi nainfect sya or nalamigan. Actually ngayon meron pang isa. So I think dapat magwax nalang din ako no? Strip it ba ang the best? Kaso hirap makahanap nun e.

Wahahaha! Nung nagpupluck pa ako... nagkakabumps lang yung UA ko so nagstop ako. I tried waxing only when I graduated na from college (nagkatrabaho na kasi ako kaya may moolah na ako magwax) :P I liked Strip it. Pero sis since may work ka, try mo talaga strip it. I think they came up with a better packaging. I think the 50 g can last 6 months-1 year depending on how often you wax your UA. :)

  3. I am very particular about wax products. If it seeps through the cloth, I might have to skip this one too.
