FOTD: Birthday Girl + First Makeup Video

I celebrated my birthday two weeks ago but I wasn't able to post anything about it. I was busy with the exams, BarOps and other extra curricular activities in school. I even had a major exam on my birthday so I knew I won't have the time to pamper myself as I needed to study all day and night. However, I still wanted to look special so I finally gave in the temptation to visit Menage Salon. On the day before my birthday, I decided to get a haircut but I asked the stylist to simply add volume on the back part of my hair. Then I also asked him to cut my bangs. :P

After:

Some of my friends told me I look better with straight hair. It was quite tempting to back to rebonding my hair but I resisted. :P Curly hair is difficult to manage but at least it is a beautiful style on its own. I enjoy straight hair sometimes but I won't go for permanent straightening.

How To: Style Curly Hair Using Bendy Rollers

Some people asked me if I had my hair digitally permed. And the truth is NO. I have naturally curly hair and I only style it to give it a little swag. haha. :P
My hair styling routine is quite simple. I apply mousse from the middle part of my hair to the tips then I straighten my bangs and front part of my hair using a flat iron.
Hence, this look:
Looks a little bit okay right? Parang hindi lang nanuklay ang peg.

My hair is quite long already and it's becoming more difficult to manage. The tips of my hair are also getting dry. I want to get a haircut but I want to maintain the length of my hair. My only problem right now is getting a haircut while maintaining the hair length may not be the best thing to say to the hairstylist. YES because they actually never happen >_< especially with curly hair. The hairstylist has to cut it in layers to define the curls and to reduce the frizz. As the curls become more defined, the hair appears shorter. Get the drift? And that is IF the hairstylist ACTUALLY do as what they're told. Most of the time, they simply cut it shorter even if you told them you want to maintain the length on the back part of the hair. >_<

And why is this such a big deal? Well, Nani's sister is getting married (again but this time it's a Church Wedding) and I'm part of the entourage. Peg ko ilugay ang aking hair. Hehe.

ANYWAY, I've been trying to find ways to style my hair. I want defined big curls. Ayoko naman magmukhang Goldilocks no.

Since I have a very long hair and my curls look more wavy and frizzy, I decided to define the curls using bendy rollers. I've tried using bendy rollers before but my hair looked terrible afterwards. My curls were all over the place. I wanted to give them away until I saw Judy of Itsjudytime used bendy rollers in one of her hair tutorials. That got me inspired to try them again. :P Bakit? Pangstraight hair lang ba ang bendy rollers? Hahaha. :P

Here's one way to use them on curly hair:
First, divide the hair into two sections: top and bottom.

The top part was probably just 1/4 of the hair since I planned to straighten my bangs, front, side and little bit of the back part of the hair. Secure the top part with a hair clip.

Second, apply mousse on the bottom part and use bendy rollers to lock the curls.

Third,  release the top section and begin straightening the hair.

Yey! Akala mo nagparebond lang. LOL

Fourth, secure the top part with a hair clip again. If the bottom part of the hair is not yet dry you may use a diffuser to expedite the process. Otherwise, just leave it for 30-45 minutes to dry.

Fifth, remove the bendy rollers and reapply mousse.

And lastly, remove the hair clip and blend the top and bottom section of the hair. Don't use a brush since using a brush on curly hair will only make the curls more frizzy. Use a comb preferably a wide tooth one.

TADAH!!!! Akala mo pinasalon pero Bendy Rollers lang pala. :P

The power of bendy rollers! ^___^

Hair Update: To Dye or Not To Dye

I feel like dyeing my hair from dark brown to light ash brown. But I won't cause I don't want to bleach my hair. >_< Haha. I am torn between loving my natural hair color and sporting a lighter hair color for a change.

Anyway, do you think it's a good idea to color my hair? I did it once but I wasn't able to maintain it. My hair became dry and a little bit brassy. Do you have any recommendations or tips on how to maintain colored hair? Just in case I decide to dye my hair, I want to know the effective ways to prevent hair damage.

I want to try the shampoo hair color like the ones in Etude House. But EH has limited color selections. >_<  I hope they release new shades. :)

LOTD: The Birthday Girl!

Hello, everyone!

Yesterday I celebrated my birthday with Nani... and CANON! Yup. Nuffnang invited me, along with other bloggers, to attend an exclusive event of Canon's product launch of Pixma Printers. I was really happy and grateful for this opportunity.

Thank you Ms. Thei (left)! I forgot to ask the other girl's name
but they're so nice and approachable. Nahiya lang akong kumuha ng litrato nung
buong Nuffnang girls. Sayang! ^___^

Initially, Nani couldn't go inside the event because I only have one slot but Ms. Thei of Nuffnang, after greeting me a happy birthday, allowed Nani to join and gave him his name tag and food stubs. I was so grateful of Nani too because he accompanied me (naging boyfriend driver ko sya ulit for a day) even though, at first, he knew he might not be able to join me inside. A lot of good things happened yesterday so let me just share with you a few things!

OUTFIT:

I buy my clothes and shoes @ SM Department Store
I bought the top on sale months ago. And I wore it when I attended my Alma Mater's Alumni Homecoming. It's an over-sized pink blouse and I decided to pair it with black pants to slim it up a bit. If you'll be wearing loose tops, you can't go wrong with skinny jeans or slacks.  And since I'm going for a simple look, I decided to wear my Parisian Nude Heels.

Parisian heels. I love Parisian shoes cause they can survive more than one year.

And since I love pearls, I decided to wear white pearl earrings which I bought, again, from SM Department Store and the pearl necklace from my mom.

The top looks good when it is loosed down but I decided to tuck it in instead. I think it makes me look taller. TEEHEE!

I also wore a sheer cardigan since the event was held inside a mall. I didn't want to get cold for wearing sleeveless. :P

Now, let's move on to other fun stuff.

HAIR:

I wanted to try something fun and different so I went to the nearest salon in our place to have my hair straightened (temporary). And I only paid Php100 to think that my hair is long and thick! Nice Deal!

Then when I got home, I used my own flat iron to create fun waves to my hair. They didn't last the whole day though but, at least, my hair had volume.

I wanted to know what brand of flat iron the stylist used but I forgot to ask. It made my hair silky smooth. YIPEE!

MAKEUP:

Face:

The Face Shop Professional Make Up Base #2 Violet (makes the makeup last the whole day)
The Face Shop Professional Foundation #21 (for dewy cheeks)
Ever Bilena Studio Finish Stick Foundation (used as a concealer)
Fanny Serrano Two Way Cake Foundation (used to mattify the entire look except the cheeks)
E.L.F Healthy Glow Bronzer in Sun Kissed (for Contouring)
E.L.F All Over Stick in Golden Peach (For Highliting)
Beauty Treats Mineral Blush in Apricot (I bought it for Php99 @ Farmers, Cubao. I think SM sells this for a higher price)

Eyes:

Ellana Minerals Sheer Natural Bronzer in Light Roast (used as an eyeshadow)
Nichido Mineral Kohl Pencil in Onyx
Meizilin False Lashes
Nichido Eyelash Glue
Maybelline Stiletto Mascara

Eyebrows:
Nichido Mineral Eye Pencil in Tiger Eye

Sneak Peek of Canon's Product Launch

It's me right there! :P The winning entry was Joanne Ladrido's picture.
And I think she totally deserves it. Her portrait lighting is exquisite.

The Beautiful Ladies: Ms. Jes of MAKEUPLOVE and Ms. Charles of WICKERMOSS
I was shy to approach Charles but I really wanted to know how she had her nails painted. Her nail polish was so cool! I saw prints on it.

First printed Photo of me and Nani that is frame worthy :P
I printed two different pictures of us so Nani can have a photo
that he can display in his room too.
Photo Quality is excellent.
And the ink quality is great too cause the Canon guy told me that the
ink won't smudge with water. But, of course,  just don't soak it wet.

My Chubby Lablab! He got chubby because of me. ^__^

My Uber supportive Pangga! My lablab is so cute!

That's all for now. I'll post more about the event soon.

Have a great day! :)
