I was really excited to try Etude House Matte Nail Polish so, when I went out with Nani and his family at SM Fairview, I took the chance to visit Etude House and grab 4 matte nail polishes. I'm pretty much on a tight budget but I was happy with these 4 shades.
I'll just feature one shade per blog post cause I don't have the leisure of time to swatch everything all at once. But rest assured I'm gonna post more swatches! YEY!
On a side note, let me just link here Polish Police blog. She has really nice swatches and I love her nails. She's quite updated with the new polish trends and has really good reviews about a wide variety of brands. Check her out! Her pictures convinced me to buy these matte babies!
Going back, I tried Mint Cookie which is a very beautiful pastel shade of green. I wanna be honest that although I like the idea of matte nail polishes, it didn't look pretty on my first application. It was really messy. But I was able to learn how to apply it well enough.
*One tip I can give you is not to put a base coat cause that would make the application more uneven. And, of course, don't put a topcoat if you want it to stay matte. However, there is one shade that looks very pretty with a top coat- Java Blue. Unfortunately, SM Fairview Etude House doesn't have it. :(
Anyway, I tried on Newspaper Nails on Matte Polish. I must say it's quite difficult to transfer the ink without the paper sticking on my nails. I find it easier when I use the regular nail polish.
oops! You got me reading case digest :) |
Newspaper Nails.
Here's what you're going to need:
1. Cut out newspapers (enough to cover each fingernail)
2. Nail Polish (I recommend that you use nudes, greyish or any pale color so that the prints would stand out. You can use matte or just the regular nail polish.)
3. Alcohol
4. Small container where you can dip the strips of newspaper
What you need to do:
1. Put alcohol on the small container.
2. Dip the newspaper strip.
3. Placed the strip on your nails and press it with your fingers. Hold it for 30 seconds.
NOTE: You need to press your fingers unto the newspaper print to make sure the ink transfers. I saw youtube videos wherein they just leave the newspaper on top but it didn't work for me. So I suggest you do the surest thing. PRESS PRESS PRESS hehehehe! :)
4. Remove the strip and Voila, you have Newspaper Nails!
BTW, I also bought the Etude House Crackling Nail Polish in Blue.
I'm excited to try this one too! :)
Have a great day, guys! I know the weather's really bad (here in the Philippines) so stay safe!
I really like that Mint Cookie shade on you~ Newspaper nails looks fun!

ReplyDeleteMint Cookie! <3 They don't have the cool-toned mattes at my nearby Etude (SM Mega) anymore. Now it's just the browns and pinks. I shoot pictures for the blog with my law school stuff in the background now too XD
ReplyDeleteRandom thought: what if you tried making newspaper nails using case digests :))
Really? I was planning to buy these at Megamall. Good thing I bought these at SM Fairview. I think the only shade they don't have is Java Blue! Hahaha! yeah... we can't do anything with law school stuffs nowadays. ^_^
ReplyDeleteHmm.. about your suggestion, I tried doing that too. I even joked my classmate that that was a good idea during recitation. Since we're not allowed any books or notes, I'd just peek on my fingernails. LOL. Unfortunately, I think the ink from the printer cannot be transferred as that of the newspaper ink. Prolly because the chemicals used were different. :P But, still, it was a nice idea!
i like the idea of newspaper nails! shall try it soon. :) thanks for sharing maggie dear!
