FOTD: Lighter Days, Lighter Brows

I attended another church wedding. Isa na lang talaga maiinggit na ako. CHARRR! hehehe.

Siyempre eto na naman ako sa isang FOTD na pinamagatang... kailangang pa bang imemorize yan??? hahaha! Same old makeup routine but I did use new products. :P I guess I love applying makeup products that I'm comfortable with rather than trying tons of products that I probably won't use everyday. For me, it is important to own makeup products that you can use anywhere, anytime and for any occasion.   In short, di lang talaga ako magaling magmake up kaya I stick to the routine that I know would make me look decent. LOL. :P

On a side note, I refuse to believe wearing makeup is for high maintenance girls. Nagmake up lang HM agad-agad??? lol The beauty of wearing makeup is learning the look that suits well on a girl's face. I don't have the money to attend makeup classes or the luxury of hiring professional MUA every time I attend special events. Applying my own makeup pushed me to learning and appreciating my physical appearance. Moreover, I discover products that work well on my skin. Atsaka, di ba nila alam meron tayong tinatawag na 5-minute makeup routine? O keber diba? Iba diyan ilang oras mag-ayos kahit di nagmemakeup.

Anyway, here are the list of products I used:

Face:
E.L.F High Definition Powder
Careline Oil Control Blush-on in Peach Glow

Brows:
Nichido Mineral Pencil in Tiger Eye
Jazzy Collections  Eyebrow Gel in Frosted Brown

Eyes:
In2it Waterproof Eyebrow Colour
(I used the lightest shade as an eye shadow and used it for contouring the nose as well.)
Nichido Girls Night out Eye Pencil in Blackest Black
Maybelline The Falsies Volume Express Mascara
False Lashes (I cut one lash in half)

Lips:
Ever Bilena Matte Lipstick in Mauvey
Ever Bilena Matte Lipstick in Port

Tutal nagpapakavain na ako sa mga photos ko... kakapalan ko na brows ko... literally. HAHAHA! :P
Galit-galitan Brows
Samahan pa natin ng video. :P

FOTD: A Magical Wedding Event

Last week, I attended Nani's sister's church wedding. The newly wed couple already had a civil marriage last year, 11-11-11, but having a church wedding made their love story more magical. We got to know more about the couple and their families. And it was truly a great experience for me since it was my first time to be part of the entourage. I was so excited to share the wonderful evening with Nani's sister, Ate Rachelle, and her husband, Kuya Nikko. I couldn't explain how inspired I became when they finally declared their vows. Super Kilig talaga. :) Ate Rachelle and Kuya Nikko are both lawyers and they met in San Beda College of Law during their freshmen years. They are truly inspirations to law student couples. :) SEE!!! Relationship is not a hindrance in law school. hehe. <3
Anyway, here's a sneak peek of their wedding trailer and wedding slideshow

Now a wedding event is a very special ceremony. Since I was one of the secondary sponsors, I wanted to look polished and appropriate. I was having second thoughts whether or not I would ask for a professional help with my makeup.  I didn't want to be disappointed with my makeup. First of all, I have uneven folds on my eyelid. Typical application of eyeliner would look horrible on me. Secondly, since I have uneven folds, my eyes don't look symmetrical. Certain eyeshadow colors emphasize that. Lastly, I don't like full coverage makeup. I had several bad experiences with salon MUAs so I decided to be my own make up artist. Char lang diba???

Loving my Maybelline the Falsies Mascara! :)

Me and my beautiful Mom. :) I love her very much. She's the strongest woman I've ever known.
My mom never had the confidence to tell herself that she's beautiful but I believe she is. She's the most beautiful person I have ever known. She is a CPA but when she got married she gave up her career to take care of her children. And now, she helps my dad with our family business to support our studies. I love my mom. I can't imagine my life without her. I feel like a big part of me will die if that's gonna happen. hehe. :) My mom suffered from Bell's Palsy when I was little. And five years ago, she had undergone surgery for a heart bypass because of Aortic Aneurysm. Even now I can't believe she went through all that. I pray that on my wedding day, she and dad will walk me down the aisle. :) For that, I'll be the happiest bride. :)

Product Review: Nichido Mineral/Spot Concealer in Beige

I'm not really into concealers but I gave this a try because I was curious about pencil concealers. I was hoping it could help conceal my blemishes on my jaw line. Also, it claims to be water resistant. I've been using it for quite some time and here's my review about this product.

The Nichido Mineral Spot Concealer is available in three colors: natural, neutral and beige. I got the shade of beige because it has a yellow undertone and I thought it would blend on my skin better than the other shades.

What I like:

  • It has a yellow undertone
  • It is cheap. I bought it at around Php 139
  • It is accessible- available at Watsons, SM Department Store, Landmark and other leading stores.
  • It can be easily blended with the skin.
What I don't like:
  • It does not effectively conceal blemishes and pimples.
  • Although it claims to be water resistant, it does not last long.
  • It was creamy when I tested it on my hand but it was difficult to apply on my face- not creamy enough.
  • The product line has limited shades.
  • It is not buildable. It can't even cover the lightest blemish I have. :(

Will I repurchase?

I absolutely won't buy this again. It doesn't work as a concealer which was the reason I bought the product. If it cannot cover even the lightest blemish on my face, I don't expect it to perform well on my dark spots.

Even though I do not like this product, I still use it, not as a concealer, but as an eye pencil for my waterline. I also line my upper lip with this product as mentioned in my previous post. If you have bought this product already and did not like it, you may use it the way I do. :P

How To: Two Tone Lips

Source: REFINERY29

I never knew that there was really such a term as Two-Tone lip make up until I googled about dual lip colors moments ago. I've been doing the technique prior to this discovery so it made me glad that there was a point in make up history that girls wear two distinct lipsticks at one time.

I hope you remember this picture that I posted a few months ago. I wore a soft nude lipstick on my upper lip and a ruby shade lip tint on my bottom lip. I loved the effect and the dimension created by the two colors.

Here's my recent take on Two-Tone Lips:

I applied a nude pink lip color on my upper lip. Lighter shades somehow make the lips appear thinner than that of bold colors. Then I applied a darker shade on my bottom lip to make it appear more plump and fuller.

Close up

For the upper lip, I used Ever Bilena in Mauvey

For the bottom lip, I applied Nichido Lip Liner in Rosette

These colors are wearable so I love the color combination. Some people say that Two-Tone lipsticks are only great for Photography and Editorials. On the contrary, you can still pull off this look provided that you have the right colors. :)

I love Two-Tone Lips! :) You can definitely play with different colors. If you're more adventurous than I am you can try brighter and bolder colors like the picture below! :P

How about you? What do you think about Two-Tone Lips?

Anyway, Merry Christmas! Have a love day!

My Makeup Routine

Products in my makeup kit

My life as a student can be described as stressful and hectic. However, I make it a point that I have ample time to apply my makeup and avoid looking haggard in school. I try to use less make up products, as you will find later, and avoid looking overdone. Furthermore, I reserve a complete make up look (with the false eyelashes, mascara, lipstick, and all that) for special events/occasions so what I will be showing you is my typical makeup routine that  I've been using for years. I might have used different products but the procedure and the objective are one and the same- the natural healthy looking makeup. I want my skin to glow and look dewy; I want to look youthful and reserved.

Although I wear make up, I still want to surprise people that my face can still be transformed to, I guess, a higher level. HAHA. Did I even make sense? I mean make up really transforms the face. It enhances the facial features of a person. So it really makes a difference on how you apply your make up. And the trend that I've been loving a lot is the "No Make up Makeup". I'm not a make up guru as I am not knowledgeable as to qualify teaching even the basic make up procedure. But I am just a simple girl how loves make up and I am hopeful that I can provide a decent look that can inspire or inform some of you who have not tried some of the tricks and tips I learned from the make up gurus I look up to.

Anyway, I have a combination skin. And for that matter, I prefer using cake than liquid foundation. I only commute from and to our place and it is inevitable, because of the humidity in the Philippines, for my makeup to melt and smudge.

I tried to look for multiple ways on how I can apply my make up and avoid looking oily in person and photographs. And recently I was able to discover a way of applying my make up that doesn't look oily yet dewy. Since I have oily T-zone, blemishes and pimples, I want to address my skin problems yet apply less makeup as much as possible.

FACE

From left to right: Fanny Serrano Two Way Cake, Max Factor Weightless Foundation,
E.L.F. Healthy Glow Bronzer and E.L.F All Over Stick

Fanny Serrano Two Way Cake Foundation

I am currently using the shade Organza which I alternately use with the shade Silk. Silk is my exact skin tone match but sometimes I want to use Organza, which is a darker shade, to give my face a healthier glow especially if I'm using highlights and bronzers on my face. I love FS foundation because it doesn't cake on me.

I apply this foundation on my face, except on my cheeks (you'll know why later on), in a gentle patting motion. I want to evenly apply it on my face and the patting motion, rather than gliding the sponge upwards on the face, can help create a natural look. I apply it with a medium coverage so I only use a dry sponge. If you want a heavier coverage, you may wet the sponge then apply it on your face. And if you'll be using a brush, try to blend it well on your skin so that it can cover your blemishes well.

MAX FACTOR WEIGHTLESS FOUNDATION

in Beige Linen

I mentioned previously that, as much as possible, I want to apply less make up. By including another foundation on the list, you might be wondering how this can be "less" make up. Well, the only reason why I apply liquid foundation is for a dewy-looking cheeks. I've watched GOSSMAKEUPARTIST's video on how to create a glowing, dewy-looking finish and he does it by setting his foundation with powder all over the face except on the cheeks where he applied a cream blush. Since I'm not a blush person I thought of using any liquid foundation that I have that has a dewy finish and, at the same time, good coverage for blemishes.

I am currently using Max Factor Weightless Foundation in Beige Linen but I alternately use it with Max Factor Second Skin, The Face Shop Professional Foundation in Shade 21, Revlon Colorstay, Revlon PhotoFinish foundation or Maybelline Mineral BB Cream. I apply this moderately on the apples of my cheeks for that glowing and youthful effect.

E.L.F Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder

Luminance

This is my favorite bronzing powder and my 3rd Luminance powder. I love using this bronzer because it gives me a natural glowing skin. I apply this on the apples of my cheeks, my forehead and on the bridge of my nose. I've already hit the pan and been trying to finish this product before  I open another back up this. Yey!

E.L.F All Over Stick in Golden Peach

This is a good highlighter and/or blush. It has a bronze-y, peachy shade which really looks great on persons with warm skin tones. Whenever I'm in a hurry and have no time to apply my healthy glow bronzer, I just grab this and apply moderately on the apple of my cheeks and the bridge to the tip of my nose. Then, I blend it well on my skin to polish my dewy look.

EYES

From Left to Right: Maybelline Brow Definist, Nichido Mineral Kohl Pencil in Black,
Ellana Mineral Bronzer in Light Roast

To Define my eyebrows, I use Maybelline Brow Definist and it makes my brows lighter. Then, I apply my eyeshadow and eyeliner to make my eyes look bigger.

ELLANA MINERAL BRONZER

Although this is supposed to be a bronzer, I use this an eye shadow instead. I only put a little on my lids just to emphasize my eyes especially the crease. I have small Asian double lid eyes so using a brown eye shadow makes it look little bit hollow.

LIPS

ELLANA LIP/CHEEK TINT

in Ruby

This is my favorite lip tint and I've been using it ever since I bought it. It gives me a very natural, healthy looking lips. And I also love the fact that it is in a pump bottle. Another good thing is that I have a friend who sells Ellana Minerals so I don't have to worry once I finish this up. ^__^

And that concludes my Make up Routine. Sometimes I spray water on my face too. I just copied that from a friend who told me that can make my makeup last and avoid caking of the foundation powder. :P
